JSR 198

Oracle submitted JSR 198 to create a standard API for IDE's. This could be very significant because currently there is a war going on with leading IDE's each providing their own API's. This includes JBuilder, Together Control Center, IntelliJ, Netbeans and Eclipse.

Each of these vendors would like to lock in the developer community by creating an API for 3rd party tool vendors to plug into. The IDE with the most plugins wins, right? Right now Eclipse seems to be winning the most mind share but this is a new game and the playing field is wide open...
