Spring Framework UML diagrams

The Spring J2EE Framework is quickly gaining recognition for its elegant architecture for IoC, MVC, AOP, persistence and transactions.

We've added UML diagrams for the latest release, 1.0 M4. Hopefully these diagrams will help people sort out the complexity of this significant framework.

Why is Spring significant? Because it provides an elegant, flexible MVC framework as well as transactions using aspect-oriented, declarative semantics for plain Java objects. The latter is going to give Spring a leap on both JBoss 4 and EJB CMP 2.1.

JBoss 4 also provides transaction semantics using AOP for plain Java objects; however, a recently released roadmap indicates that this release of JBoss is months away. The Spring 1.0 final release will certainly be available much sooner.

All this has yet to play out, but could be very interesting to watch indeed.

DocGen templates?

Hi,

Could I have a copy of the templates you used to generate the Spring Framework UML model on your site? These are in the exact format I need, whereas the ones that come with Together Solo have serious flaws.

It might not be a bad idea to put these on your site so that everybody can download them. It certainly wouldn't hurt Borland's business any, if that is a concern!

Thanks and have a nice year!

Regards,
