aren't human organizations asynchronous?

According to http://www.objectsbydesign.com/proj...-answers-1.html
8) State diagrams are the most useful where asynchronous events occur .
Why is it so?
6)activity diagrams are the most useful for business modeling of human organization
Why is it so?
Aren't 6) and 8) in contradiction with each other?
