I am happy to say that I passed the test with an 81%...yahoo! Now onto the next hurdle, the IBM 483 Test. Any good groups for this test?
My feelings about the test: I actually found the test relatively easier than some of the other practice tests that I have taken. My approach was to complete all questions with no exhibits first by marking the questions that had them, and then I went back and did those ones. I had 40 minutes to spare when done and reviewed the last questions I had marked for uncertainty.
The questions were significantly less ambiguous than the ICE exam questions! There were 26/56 questions that had some form of exhibit. There were two questions on the Broker pattern, which I am glad I studied. Bottomline, if you hang out at this site and go through the questions here, you will be a great advantage of passing the exam. I can't emphasize that any more! Many thanks to Bala, TVTM, SZ, Cbedford, and many more who were all very helpful.
My preparation (4 months part-time; 1 week very intensely):
Fowler (read once, highlighted, then re-read 4 more times)
Larman (read once, highlighted, then re-read 2 more times)
Design Patterns Explained (good book, but didn't see many questions on the topic)
Schuam's UML guide (skimmed, just to understand the UML better)
Took Bala's, Ivan's, and WhizLab tests; these are all very good tests and I swear I saw some verbatim or at least in concept. Also, took ICE around 4 times before reviewing answers -- know this test! There are some questions that are very similar.
Notes: I used Ecuelero Notes and converted them to mind maps to help remember the concepts. These were very helpful in keeping the concepts straight, so I'll include here. You can download the mindmap software from download.com...it's called Ygnius.
Good luck to anyone else taking the exam. It was a pleasure to share the knowledge with many of the intelligent and learning impassioned people on this site!
