The 3rd edition of Fowlers "UML distilled" will cover the new version of UML: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...l/-/0321193687/

There is apparently a "UML 2 for Dummies" book available from Amazon. However, preliminary reviews suggest that it is not a good read due to the "for Dummies" style of writing. Hopefully Martin Fowler's updated UML Distilled 3rd Edition will be available soon and will no doubt do a good job of covering UML 2.

Wiley just released Tom Pender's UML Bible, which does an excellent job at presenting and comparing both UML 1.4 and 2.0.

This book is highly recommended because not only is it clearly written, but it is also a comprehensive treatment of the full UML standard, including OCL, XMI and Action Semantics. In addition, an early chapter is devoted to explaining object-oriented concepts, so the UML is put into the right context and not just treated as a notation.

Because of the thorough comparisons made between UML 1.4 and UML 2.0, the UML Bible will ease the transition for many modelers to the latest, substantially revised version of the standard.

I just received a copy of that book (UML Bible) from Amazon. It is really very good, much easier than trying to comprehend the UML 2.0 specs from the OMG!

Also, Martin Fowler's UML Distilled 3rd Edition has now been published and is available. I've got a copy on the way right now from Amazon (no longer back-ordered or awaiting release).

New book "UML 2 Illustrated"

Hello,

I am pleased to announce that the book "UML 2 Illustrated" is available now.

With an average of twice more figures than other UML books (over 390 figures), this book is the easiest way to learn the new features introduced in UML 2.
Then a very detailed case study teaches you how to use UML 2, up to 100% code generation.

Details on http://www.tmso-systems.com

Laurent.

Instead of buying a book, you might find that The Diagrams of UML 2.0 be good enough. It is the UML 2 portions of The Object Primer 3rd Edition: Agile Model Driven Development with UML 2 which was the first published book to cover all 13 UML 2 diagrams.
