Good book on BPMN

Support for BPMN (Business Process Modeling Notation) is just now starting to appear in UML tools, and this new development promises to generate a lot of interest.

To access information on BPMN, including the 1.0 specification, see the BPMN home page and the current list of BPMN implementations.

Included in the list of UML tools currently shipping BPMN support are Together Architect 2006 and MagicDraw 10. For a great demo of Together's ability to translate BPMN diagrams to BPEL, see the Borland site.

Essential Business Process Modeling is a recently published O'Reilly book written by Michael Havey that provides essential background and information on BPMN. This book was released as part of O'Reilly's /Theory/In/Practice series and represents a better technical quality overall.

If you want a clear introduction to BPMN and an understanding of its relationship to BPEL, this book provides all the details in chapters 5 and 6. What is also very useful is the extensive historical information on workflow standards.
